Q. Who should take the Certification Exam?

A. All professionals communicating with healthcare professionals for the purpose of providing education and information about their biopharmaceutical products. Professionals seeking to become certified wish to validate their competency and improve their ability to serve their customers by providing a reliable measurement of their capabilities to serve the healthcare continuum.

Q. Why should I take the Certification Exam?

A. MRCC® Certified medical representatives demonstrate an elevated level of knowledge by completing the competency examination. This action exhibits greater commitment, accountability and credibility to the industry and benefits clinicians by enhancing trust, benefits employers by proving competence, but most importantly - benefits patients through improved outcomes.

Q. Why should I choose MRCC?

A. MRCC has taken the time to follow an accredited process to create this certification program. We have involved multiple levels of stakeholders in the creation of the standards, within and outside of the biopharmaceutical industry. We have carefully solicited input and advocacy from organizations important to the biopharmaceutical industry so that the certification will be important to those stakeholder groups as well. The policies and procedures, examination building and analyzing processes are psychometrically sound and provide assurance of credibility and fairness to participants, employers and other stakeholder groups. As a not-for-profit certification body, MRCC's interest is to ensure a fair and equitable certification program which ultimately impacts patient care and protects the public. Certification programs without the robust methodology and ongoing scrutiny and leadership of a truly independent Commission are not valid.

Q. What is the designation that I will receive once I have passed the examination?

A. Representatives who have proven their competency by successfully passing the MRCC certification examination will be MRCC Certified and should proudly display the logo on their business card. A certificate and wallet card will be mailed to each certificant upon final scoring if the exam is passed. An email will follow with business card logo instructions and other helpful information.

Q. How do I apply/register to take the examination?

A. The application process to evaluate eligibility is described in the Certificant Handbook available online at www.castleworldwide.com/mrcc. You may begin the online application process here or choose to use the paper application.

A. Soon after application, approved participants will receive an instructional email with online directions for scheduling the examination at one of 450 centers throughout the US at a time convenient to them. Q. When can I take the examination?

Q. Where do I take the examination?

A. MRCC examinations, to be accredited, will be high-stakes and delivered in proctored testing centers, colleges and universities across the US. Applicants will be given instuctions via email to make appointments convenient for them at one of these centers after the application has been reviewed and accepted. Q. How do I take the examination?

A. The examinations will be delivered via computers within testing facilities across the US. Participants will be given instructions via email upon registration confirmation regarding what to expect at the testing center, what to bring to the testing center and what must not be brought into the testing center.

A. Initial certification fees will be collected at the time of application.

Q. How can I prepare for the examination?

A. All instructions, sample questions and examples of the content are in the Certificant Handbook. Please review this booklet thoroughly. A sample test will be made available for practice. Q. When will I receive my score?

A. Pass/fail notices will be delivered within three weeks of the examination period closing. Due to the depth of psychometric analysis needed, scores will be withheld until all examinations have been validated.

Q. What is the process for verifying my certification?

A. Organizations, or individual clinicians, will be able to validate your certification via an online national registry that will be available through the MRCC website. During your application process, you will be able to opt in or out of this service. You may change this option at any time within your personal profile via our website.

Q. What must I bring with me to the examination?

A. Two forms of identification and the Equivalency Analysis of Foreign Degree, if applicable. Please adhere to all instructions within the Certificant Handbook as well as the instructions provided with your registration confirmation.

Q. What may I NOT bring with me to the exam?

A. The following items are prohibited in the testing room:

  • Cameras, cell phones, optical readers, and other electronic devices that include the ability to photograph, photocopy, or otherwise copy test materials
  • Notes, books, dictionaries, and language dictionaries
  • Book bags and luggage
  • IPods (similar), mp3 players (similar), headphones, and pagers
  • Calculators (except as expressly permitted by MRCC), computers, PDAs, or other electronic devices with one or more memories
  • Watches
  • Foods and beverage
  • Hats, hoods, and other headgear
